The Satellite L755-S5271′s 16:9 screen aspect ratio is a useful one for entertainment, but not as ideal for computing where it would be best to have a taller screen for internet browsing and document touch-ups. Fortunately, this has an HDMI out, so it’s possible to stream video to your HDTV and do other work on the the laptop at the same time. I found that this laptops best buy is actually lighter than it appears, which for me is a plus. On the downside is that it flexes just a bit, which some may construe as cheap construction.
Gaming performance is decent with frame rates at ~15 fps on games like WoW, Crysis etc. This is to be expected of laptops with the same graphics hardware as the Satellite L755-S5271, which doesn’t really affect its standing as a laptops best buy. However, if you want to seriously game on a laptop, then look elsewhere. Another area I personally feel is weak is the Fast Ethernet port on this laptop, I would have preferred Gigabit adapter to match the capabilities of my routers, switches and other devices attached to them.
For the price of approximately $500, I think it’s a good deal for what you get.
